At the beginning of the year, you made the resolution to “get back out there.” However, it may have been awhile since you have been out and you are so far out of the loop that you aren’t sure what to do or how to be approachable.
Here are a couple of tips for you:
1. LOOK PRESENTABLE
Running to the store in your pajamas, sweats, slippers, head rollers and a scarf is not going to make the handsome guy on Aisle 4 want to approach you. NEVER…EVER…. go out of the house looking a mess!
As my grandmother always said, “You never know who you might meet.”
The saying, “You only get one chance to make a first impression,” is true.
You may never see that handsome guy on Aisle 4 again and truth be told, the way you ran out the house looking like a runaway slave will NOT make him want to approach you. If you are going to the store, the mall or the drug store…look your best. That doesn’t mean that you have on full makeup but comb your hair and put some clothes on. Don’t go out looking frumpy! When “you look good, you feel good” and when you feel good, you hold your head up and put a little switch in your hips.
2. ATTITUDE
Don’t walk around like you are mad at the world and like every man did you wrong.
Watch your body language and don’t forget to SMILE!! No one wants to approach a woman with an attitude, who looks like she just ate a handful of sour patch kids.
Also very important…if there is a man who you are interested in, make sure you make eye contact! Don’t look down at the floor. Look up and be confident. Let him know that you are interested.
3. GET OFF THE PHONE
We have all been guilty of this one, especially when we are in a social setting alone or waiting for someone, we are texting, on Facebook or Twitter and basically looking busy.
If you give the appearance that you are busy and don’t want to be bothered, men will do exactly that…not bother you. Put your phone away!!
4. DON’T GO OUT IN LARGE GROUPS
Nothing is more intimidating to a man than approaching a woman with a large group of friends around.
Break away from the pack. I will always walk around by myself or go to the bar and buy a drink…alone! Don’t be afraid to go off on your own.
If a man has been watching you, it is the perfect time for him to approach you.
5. CONVERSATION
When a man does approach you, make sure that you are able to hold a decent conversation.
Watch the news, instead of Real Housewives of Atlanta and find out about current events and who is playing in the play-off’s.
By no means should you break out with the question, “Did you watch Love & Hip Hop last night?” That is unless you are not interested and want the conversation to be over QUICKLY!
It is okay to make small talk but don’t get into debatable conversations right off the bat. During the conversation, make sure to smile and flatter him.
Throw some compliments in and make eye contact. Make sure to let him know that you are interested.
