A Tribe Called Judah: Funke Akindele sets record with £80,000 UK Box Office sales
Funke Akindele, the leading actress in Nollywood, has left a significant mark on the UK Box Office with her groundbreaking film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” which raked in £80,000.
The movie, already holding the distinction of being the highest-grossing Nollywood film, shattered Box Office records in the UK, pulling in an impressive £80,000 in just four weeks of streaming.
The news was shared on Instagram by Film One, an entertainment company, praising Funke Akindele’s achievement. “One and only Big Baller @funkejenifaakindele. Congratulations on your UK Numbers. We love a focused Queen,” they announced.
It’s noteworthy that “A Tribe Called Judah” premiered on December 15, 2023, and during its opening weekend at the Nigerian Box Office, it amassed over N133 million in gross earnings, marking it as the first film to achieve such a milestone.
Within three weeks of its release, the film’s gross revenue reached N854 million, solidifying Funke Akindele’s position with three of the top-grossing Nollywood films to her credit.
Her movie “Omo Ghetto the Saga” grossed a total of N636 million in 2020, while “Battle on Buka Street,” released in 2022, earned N668 million.
On January 4, “A Tribe Called Judah” achieved another milestone by grossing N1 billion, setting a new record as the first Nollywood film to reach such a significant milestone at the Box Office.
