Army begins massive shooting in Imo, warns civilians
Obinze, the 34 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, Owerri has announced that it will start its annual range classification exercise in September and urges residents to avoid the area.

Akubo stated that the exercise would require the use of arms, and live ammunition, and therefore civilians should avoid areas around Obinze Barracks, Small Arms Shooting Range, and Obinze Barracks.
He explained that the range classification was intended to assess the effectiveness of personnel in weapon handling, and firing efficiency and that it would be conducted daily between 6 am and 6 pm.
“In view of the above, the people of Obinze town and surrounding communities are strongly advised to keep away from the Range Area throughout the mentioned period”, he said.
