“Asake’s friends are complaining that he no longer replies to messages” – Yemi Elesho
Nigerian content creator Yemi Elesho remarked that Asake, the Afrobeats singer, is reportedly not responding to messages from his former friends.
In an interview with The Echo Room, Elesho expressed that Asake’s companions from his earlier days as an aspiring artist feel neglected since he attained fame.
Elesho empathized with Asake’s situation, suggesting that the musician’s elevated status may have led him to engage with a different social circle.
Having attended the same institution as Asake, Elesho revealed that during their time at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Asake couldn’t afford housing and relied on the hospitality of friends.
He opined that it’s understandable for Asake to distance himself from some of his past acquaintances after achieving stardom.
Elesho said; “Asake is big and a lot of his friends are complaining that he doesn’t reply to their direct messages, but me I no send am DM because I know say e no go reply. E don big!
“The kind of people he mingles with is different, he’s big already. He sees new people every day, people wey get level. Naturally, he can’t carry everybody along.”
