ASUU issue is not as simple as it seems – Lai Mohammed
The Federal Government indicated that it isn’t as easy as it seems to be in the ongoing dispute between itself and the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture said this to reporters from state houses after the Federal Executive Council meeting (FEC), which President Muhammadu Buhari presided over on June 15.
He stated that despite the complexity, there is a lot being done behind the scenes to solve the problems. Mohammed stated that the Federal Government was concerned by the ongoing issues with lecturers and would continue to work towards a quick resolution.
ASUU began its latest nationwide strike on February 14th over issues such as the adoption of the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, non-payment of salaries and allowances, poor funding of universities, and other issues.
