Burna Boy mocks South Africans as a Caucasian woman wins Miss SA following the withdrawal of Chidimma Adetshina
Burna Boy has ridiculed South Africans after a Caucasian woman was crowned Miss South Africa, following the withdrawal of Nigerian model Chidimma Adetshina from the competition.
Miss Adetshina, a 23-year-old law student, initially won the Miss South Africa beauty pageant. However, her victory sparked controversy as many South Africans questioned her citizenship, leading to widespread calls for her disqualification on social media. Adetshina was born to a South African mother and a Nigerian father.
An investigation by South African Home Affairs revealed that Adetshina’s mother may have used the identity of an innocent South African woman. This discovery led to Adetshina’s withdrawal from the competition.
After her withdrawal, Mia Le Roux, a Caucasian woman, was crowned Miss South Africa at a ceremony held at the Sun Bet Arena at Times Square in Menlyn, Pretoria. Le Roux, who is the first Miss SA winner with a cochlear implant, will also be the first contestant with a disability to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico. The new Miss South Africa received the Mowana crown, a luxurious, fully furnished apartment, a Mercedes Benz, R1 million, and additional prizes.
Reacting to it, Burna Boy, via the micro-blogging platform Twitter, now known as X, mocked them as he noted how a South African didn’t still win the pageant.
“So after all that”, with several laughing emojis.
