“Calls for DNA test is insensitive, allow Mohbad’s wife to mourn” — Iyabo Ojo
Iyabo Ojo has criticized those in Nigeria who are pressuring Omowunmi, the widow of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to undergo a DNA test to confirm her son’s paternity.
Reports indicate that some Nigerians continue to insist on a DNA test for Mohbad’s five-month-old son to establish his biological relationship with Mohbad.
A businessman named Larry Omodia even offered to contribute N10 million to support Mohbad’s widow in conducting an “all-expense paid” DNA test if she agreed.
In response, Iyabo Ojo expressed her disapproval in a video message shared on her Instagram page, describing the calls for a DNA test as “insensitive.” She emphasized that the grieving Mohbad family should be allowed to mourn, and if Mohbad’s parents decide to pursue a DNA test, it should be their choice, and outsiders should not dictate it.
“Mohbad never told anyone that his son wasn’t his son. But if the officers investigating his death feel there is a need to conduct a DNA test, they will. We need to be very sensitive, please. Why are you guys bullying the poor lady [Mohbad’s wife]? Leave her alone.”
