Charly Boy raises alarm over the disappearance of new Naira notes
Charles Oputa (Charly Boy), a veteran Nigerian musician who is also known as Charly, expressed his concern about the new redesigned notes of N1000, 500, and 200 naira no longer in circulation.
It was disclosed that in March, the Supreme Court decided that the prior version of the Naira notes, as well as the new Naira notes, would remain legal currency until December 31, 2023.
Emmanuel Agim is a member of a seven-judge panel that delivered the main decision. He stated that the order by President Muhammadu Buhari to redesign new notes and remove the old ones, without proper consultation, was invalid.
However, Charly Boy took to his Twitter page to share a message claiming that only the old notes are currently in circulation since the court’s decision.
He shared a picture stating: “I nor dey see new naira notes again oo.”
His caption read: “Why, why, why? Can somebori tell me why?”
