Davido pays tribute to Wizkid’s late mum at Afronation festival
Prominent Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Davido, interrupts his performance at Afronation in Detroit, USA on Sunday to honor the late mother of Wizkid, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun. It’s worth recalling that Wizkid’s mother sadly passed away on August 18, 2023.
The tribute from Davido joins a series of tributes and condolences offered by fans and colleagues of the acclaimed artist, both on stage and through social media posts.
While extending his sympathies to Wizkid, Davido empathizes by sharing his own experience of loss, having lost his own mother, Mrs. Veronica Adekunle.
He acknowledges that Wizkid’s mother had the opportunity to witness his music industry achievements before her passing.

“Personally, I have lost so many people in my life. And I want to send condolences to my brother, Ayo Balogun Wizkid. To his mother, may her soul rest in peace.
“I lost my mother myself years ago. But I know whatever he [Wizkid] has done, he has made his mother proud.”
