D’banj recounts how his mother arranged his marriage at dad’s birthday
Renowned singer Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, professionally known as D’banj, shared a touching story about how his mother arranged his marriage during his father’s birthday party.
Appearing on TVC’s ‘Your View,’ the Koko Master disclosed how he avoided controversies typically associated with celebrity marriages.
D’banj recounted that at his father’s birthday celebration, his mother had asked him to bring his girlfriend to meet the family and inquired if he was considering marriage.
Although D’banj wasn’t ready for marriage yet and envisioned a grand wedding, his mother had other plans.
To his astonishment, his mother had secretly arranged a wedding ceremony on his father’s birthday, surprising him and his wife with a ‘Happy Wedding’ cake during the event.
D’banj expressed his gratitude to his mother for her foresight, recognizing the difficulties that celebrity marriages often face.
Reflecting on the event, D’banj said, “My mother planned everything. She told me not to worry and explained the plan. Since my dad’s birthday is on July 2nd, we decided to celebrate his birthday, which also became our wedding day.”
“She told me to bring the girl I was dating so they could all see her and questioned if I would marry her. I told her I wasn’t ready, that I wanted to do a big thing. She told me I would definitely do a big wedding, but first, I should bring her for Daddy’s birthday.
“As we finished Daddy’s birthday, they rolled Daddy’s cake and brought out ‘Happy Wedding’. My brother, D’Prince, was there, and he also was as surprised as I was. And till today, I thank her every day of how so far ahead she saw it and how I see social media stories”.
