Desmond Elliot dismisses gay allegations, labels it ‘baseless’
Desmond Elliot, a Nollywood actor turned politician, has responded to recent allegations linking him to a list of Nigerian celebrities accused of being involved in same-sex relationships.
The claims, which first surfaced on a controversial blog, sparked a social media frenzy, with many users reacting strongly to the list.
In a recent interview with TVC, Elliot dismissed the accusation as “baseless” and driven by “malicious gossip.” He emphasized that he is focused on more important matters, particularly his political career and his efforts to improve the lives of his constituents.
“Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it did not reduce or increase my life? Secondly, it is an opinion that is being conceived. And I don’t think it is necessary for me to come out and say it’s true or not true; as long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good. So let me state it very clearly that I am straight,” he stated.
Elliot’s remarks come at a time when many public figures in Nigeria are calling for an end to the spread of unverified claims and character attacks on social media.
