Disney unveils new Lion King ride for Paris park
Disney has announced a new Lion King attraction set to debut at its Paris resort. Visitors will embark on a journey through the African savanna with beloved characters like Mufasa, Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, according to theme park chief Josh D’Amaro, who revealed the details on Saturday.
At the D23 convention, mock-ups of the attraction were shown, featuring a log flume ride that descends from Pride Rock while Rafiki watches. This announcement follows Disney’s weaker-than-expected theme park earnings for the quarter ending in June, reported just three days prior.
Rumors of a Lion King experience at Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallée have circulated since 2022. Last year, Disney revealed plans to invest $60 billion (£47 billion) over the next decade to expand its theme parks and cruise lines, doubling the amount spent in the previous decade, and generating excitement among fans.
Bosses have now confirmed that the Lion King-themed land will follow World of Frozen, a themed area based on the Frozen franchise that is due to launch in 2026 in Paris.
The new areas are in the Walt Disney Studios Park, which will be renamed Disney Adventure World to signal its new offering.
