Elon Musk to spend election night with Donald Trump

Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, announced on X/Twitter that he will spend election night with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Musk, the owner of Tesla and X, has been actively campaigning for the Republican candidate in key battleground states across the U.S.

Trump’s campaign is organizing watch parties at various locations, including Mar-a-Lago and the Palm Beach Convention Center, where thousands of his supporters are expected to gather.

As one of Trump’s most prominent supporters, Musk has contributed over $119 million (£91.6 million) this election cycle to America PAC, a political action committee he founded to back the former president.

Earlier this year, Musk expressed his support for Trump, despite previously stating in 2022 that “it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat and sail into the sunset.”

On Tuesday night, as Florida was projected to go to Trump, the crowd at the Palm Beach Convention Center erupted in cheers.

While it was expected that Trump would win Florida, a state that has shifted from a swing state to a solidly Republican one, the mood was still celebratory as early results continued to come in.

The crowd was a sea of red MAGA hats and distinctive, eccentric outfits commonly seen at Trump rallies.

Blake Marnell, a frequent attendee at Trump events, wore his signature brick-patterned suit to show support for Trump’s border policies. He expressed optimism, stating that the “true success” of Trump’s political influence will be measured by the enduring impact of his “political philosophy.”

Meanwhile, Steve Bannon, former chief strategist of the Trump White House, is hosting his own election night watch party at the Willard Hotel, a prestigious five-star venue in Washington, D.C., which was previously a hub for Trump supporters attempting to overturn the 2020 election results.
