Four arrested in Bauchi for stealing transformer gas
Bauchi state police have arrested four men for allegedly stealing gas from an electricity transformer in Dunga Sabo, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
Ahmed Wakil, the Command’s Public Relations Officer confirmed their arrests on Thursday night, January 12th.
He stated that the suspects conspired to take advantage of the faulty transformer and were arrested while committing the crime on January 4, 2023.
The statement read;
“The Command has arrested four suspects for an act of conspiracy and vandalism on an electricity transformer.
“The suspects were arrested on the 4th January 2023 at about 2.00am while tapping gas from an electricity transformer situated at Dunga Sabo area of Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi state.
“The group of vandals led by one Omega Daniel, male (23) of Dungah alongside three other suspects, namely; Kasuma Yakubu,male (27) of Dungah, Mafuki Daniel, male (27) of Kampani Village via Bogoro LGA and Joshua Joel, male (37) of Dungah area of Tafawa Balewa LGA.
“The investigation also revealed that the suspects took advantage of the faulty transformer and perpetrated their act.
“The suspects were apprehended alongside four empty 25 litres of Jerry Cans, one rubber tapping pipe, and one adjustable pipe wrench.”
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. They’ll be charged in court at the conclusion of the investigation.
