French police arrest Russian-Ukrainian man on bomb-making charges
French authorities have detained a 26-year-old individual of Russian-Ukrainian descent under suspicion of attempting to manufacture explosives and orchestrating a violent incident.
The individual sustained significant injuries in an explosion that occurred on Tuesday in a hotel room situated in Roissy-en-France, close to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.
Evidence discovered by investigators within the premises suggests the presence of equipment and substances earmarked for the production of explosives, as disclosed by the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office.
Furthermore, French media outlets have reported the discovery of firearms and forged passports.
An inquiry has been launched by anti-terrorism prosecutors, who are collaborating with France’s domestic intelligence agency, as per information provided to Reuters.
Following medical treatment for severe burns and subsequent arrest, the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation while hospitalized.
He is reportedly a Russian-speaker from the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, much of which is currently occupied by Russia.
