Ganduje approves N33m upkeep allowance for Kano students in France
Abdullahi Ganduje (Gov. Kano State), has approved N33million in upkeep allowance for post-graduate students currently studying in France.
On Sunday, Dr. Mariya Mahamoud Bunkure (Commissioner for Higher Education) stated that the fund was part of the counter-part financing under the France-Kano State Government Scholarship Scheme.
The statement stated that the governor signed a bilateral agreement with France, in order to train Kano scholars in French universities, in keeping with the government’s many efforts to improve the quality and standard of higher education in the state.
“These scholars are at prestigious and world-class universities with special interests in Science and Technology.”
According to the statement, this scheme had enabled hundreds of scholars from state institutions of higher education to obtain Masters and PhD degrees. Many others are in the final stages of their programs.
