Gunmen abduct Taraba monarch’s wives and 6 children
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two wives and six children of Chief of Mutumbiyu in Taraba State.
Daily Trust reported that the gunmen invaded the residence of the monarch in Jalingo in the early hours of Thursday, January 19, and abducted members of his family.
Justice Sani Muhammed (retd), the monarch and a second-class chief was not at his Jalingo residence when the incident occurred.
According to reports, the gunmen have reached out to the monarch and demanded that they meet them in order for them to discuss the release of his family members.
Spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the incident.
Abdullahi said;
“Two wives and six children of chief of Mutumbiyu were abducted at about 1am Thursday and effort is being made to rescue them.”
