Gunmen kidnap three children of a businessman in Kogi, demand N100m ransom
Gunmen have kidnapped 3 children of Mr. Kadiri, an electronic dealer in Ajaokuta Local Government Area (Kogi State).
According to reports, the incident occurred at Kaduna Estate in the Ajaokuta steel township complex, around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the shooters entered a compound where the children lived and began shooting into the air to scare neighbors. They then abducted the children, aged 5, 7, and 10.
According to a family source who spoke with Nigerian Tribune, the gunmen demanded N100 million ransom from the victim’s family on Thursday afternoon.
“The gunmen invaded the house of Mr. Kadiri, our brother who sells television, radio, and other electronic devices. They repeatedly shot to scare people from coming close. When they could not see their target victim (Kadiri), they decided to abduct three of his children,” the source said.
“The kidnappers contacted some of our family members, demanding N100m. Where on earth can we raise such an amount of money?
Here in Ajaokuta, we can no longer sleep with our two eyes close. There is armed robbery and kidnapping everywhere. Things are already falling apart. Nowhere is safe again.” he added.
