“How Dbanj stopped his personal project to support me at no cost” – Funke Akindele spills as he appreciates singer
Funke Akindele has expressed heartfelt gratitude to singer Dbanj for his unwavering support for her and her Jenifa brand.
During the premiere of her highly anticipated movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, held on Sunday night, Funke recounted how Dbanj went out of his way to assist her. She revealed that the singer was scheduled to travel for a personal project, but after she repeatedly pleaded for his help, he postponed his plans to support her, doing so at no cost.
“A big thank you to Bangalee. He was supposed to travel for a project. I begged and begged and begged. He told his team to pause the project, and he did this for me at no cost,” she shared during her speech.
This isn’t the first time Funke has publicly appreciated Dbanj. At Dbanj’s anniversary dinner in June, she recalled how he encouraged her to persevere with the Jenifa brand. She revealed that his words of encouragement and financial support played a pivotal role in her next project, helping her keep the brand thriving.
Dbanj’s belief in Funke and her vision has significantly contributed to her success. Now regarded as the Queen of the Box Office, Funke made history in January 2023 as the first Nigerian filmmaker to gross over a billion naira at the cinema with her movie A Tr!be Called Judah, which earned over ₦1.4 billion. Her remarkable achievements highlight her hard work and dedication as one of Nollywood’s most industrious stars.
