“I challenge the OGs to go make music; ageism is an issue in Nigeria” – Illbliss
Nigerian rapper Tobechukwu Ejiofor, popularly known as Illbliss, has issued a challenge to veteran artists in the industry who claim to have paved the way for Nigerian musicians, urging them to release new music.
During an interview on Channels TV, Illbliss was asked to share his thoughts on the ongoing debates within the Nigerian music scene regarding the role of older artists in paving the way for younger talents.
The rapper acknowledged that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and if some artists feel that the path wasn’t paved for them, he respects their perspective.
While acknowledging that older musicians may not have provided record deals to younger artists, Illbliss emphasized that every emerging artist draws inspiration from their predecessors in some way.
Expressing concern about the issue of ageism in Nigeria, Illbliss challenged the veteran artists to continue releasing music, highlighting the importance of staying active in the industry regardless of age.
He noted that he doesn’t like the energy from the OGs as the younger artists are working very hard.
