“I did it!” – Rema elated as he achieves his 3-year dream of shutting down a concert in India
Divine Ikubor (also known as Rema), a Nigerian singer shared his excitement about achieving his dream of performing at the headlining concert in India.
The Mavin singer is currently on a much-anticipated Indian Tour. He took to social media and shared a video from an old interview in which he talked about his dream of shutting down India.
In an interview given in 2020, Rema asked why Nigerian musicians aren’t breaking into India’s music scene as they do in Europe.
He added that he wants to take Afrobeats to the next level and expressed his desire to conquer India with his music.
“You see Afrobeats, I want to take it to the next level. I want us to get into the India zone. Why can’t we shut down India?” he passionately said in the interview.
Three years after the interview, the 23-year-old singer, known for his hit song “Calm Down”, has achieved the impressive feat of selling out a concert in Delhi, India.
Videos of the concert have been shared on the internet, and it’s evident that he captivated his Indian fans with his electrifying performance.
Sharing a video mash-up of the interview alongside scenes from the concert, Rema expressed gratitude to those who believed in his dream and Indians for the love and support he received in the country.
“3 years later I did it! Thank you India for your overwhelming love & my heart to those who BELIEVED,” he wrote.
The singer is set to shut down Mumbai on Saturday and Hyderabad on Sunday, following his energetic performance in Delhi last weekend.
