“I did not inherit any wealth despite coming from a rich family” — Dangote states
Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest individual, reveals that despite hailing from a prosperous family, he did not inherit a single cent of their riches.
The Nigerian tycoon, who has recently surpassed Johann Rupert of South Africa to claim the title of Africa’s richest person, shared in a recent interview the storied legacy of wealth within his lineage.
He recounted how his great-grandfather reigned as the wealthiest man in West Africa during the 1940s, followed by his affluent grandfather and businessman-politician father.
Nonetheless, Dangote proudly reflects on his journey, having independently built his empire from the ground up without relying on any inherited wealth.
Although he confesses that his father left him a tangible amount in his will, he donated it to charity.
