“I once used toilet water to soak garri” – Laycon recounts hard times
Reality television personality and previous winner of Big Brother Naija Lockdown Season 5, Laycon, has reflected on a period of adversity he experienced several years back.
Laycon disclosed that in 2013, due to extreme hunger and a lack of resources, he resorted to using toilet water to moisten garri for consumption.
He further explained that the garri he prepared with the toilet water lacked sugar, and he couldn’t afford to purchase a sachet of clean water, leaving him with no alternative but to utilize sewage water to soften the garri for sustenance.
In his words;
“One of my lowest lows was using Shodeinde Hostel toilet water to soak garri in 2013. I was alone in my wing that weekend, and I was starving. I wasn’t hungry o, I was starving. So I soaked Garri with no sugar and used toilet tap water to drink it… as I Dey soak the garri, water dey commot for my eyes.”
