“I pioneered many vibes Afrobeat artists thrive off today” – Ckay brags
Nigerian singer Ckay has boldly claimed that many of the popular vibes and sounds in today’s Afrobeat scene were pioneered by him.
In a recent post on his X page, the “Love Nwantiti” hitmaker expressed his confidence, stating that he was ahead of the curve. He reminisced about how he was once mocked for introducing emo Afrobeat, a style that later became a trending sensation on TikTok.
Ckay emphasized that many Afrobeat artists are now adopting and rebranding the style, profiting significantly from it.
His words: “ckay IS the first. i pioneered many vibes afrobeat artists thrive off today…iykyk. y’all laughed when i came up with emo afrobeat and was on tiktok all day but many are now doing the same thing, calling it ridiculous names (& making $$). you’re welcome sha.”
