Spyro, a fast-rising Nigerian artist, has revealed that he received a loan from a bank to finance his song with Mayorkun and Davido.
In 2018, the rising artist featured Omo Baba Olowo, Mayorkun, and other artists on a song titled “Funke” in 2018. However, the song’s commercial success was short-lived.
Spyro revealed in a recent Cool FM interview that he had struggled to repay the debt for three years.
The “Who’s Your Guy?” crooner claimed that the collaboration launched him into the spotlight, but he fell off after the song lost the initial momentum.
Spyro said;
“When I dropped ‘Funke’ and the song popped. I had David [Davido], I had Mayorkun on the song. And after dropping ‘Funke’ and my career still went down, I’m like, ‘Oh! Am I ever gonna rise again?’
I popped but I just came down because there was no structure. There was nothing. I took a loan from the bank to finance that particular record while I was still signed to Upfront & Personal. When that period passed, I now had to start paying for the loan. That was really difficult because I paid for like three years.”
