Iceland volcano erupts for sixth time in eight months
Timelapse footage captures red-hot lava shooting into the air in the Reykjanes region of Iceland. This marks the sixth volcanic eruption in the area, south of Reykjavik, since December.
According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office, the eruption commenced at 21:26 local time (22:16 BST) after a series of earthquakes.
The nearby fishing village of Grindavik has been evacuated. The exact number of people in the area is unclear, as most of its nearly 4,000 residents had already departed in November.
