I’m the reason the $ is now N1,700 and counting – Basketmouth
Renowned comedian Basketmouth addresses accusations of being a catalyst for inflation and other prevailing issues in the country.
A social media user on platform X recently criticized the stand-up comic, asserting that Basketmouth contributes to Nigeria’s challenges.
The individual claimed that instead of encouraging voter turnout on Election Day, the comedian scheduled a show for that same day.
“Did Basketmouth vote for good governance on election day? Basketmouth had a show slated for 25th Feb 2023. He is part of Nigeria’s problem,” the tweep wrote.
In reaction, Basketmouth admitted to being the reason behind the problems. Amongst others, he admitted that the reason the dollar is exchanged at 1,700 naira.
“Oh yes!!! I guess I am really the problem!!
I’m the reason the $ is now N1,700 and counting.
I’m the one that keeps collapsing the power grid.
I’m the reason the refineries don’t work.
I’m the snake that swallowed $100,000.
I guess i am the one.” Basketmouth wrote.
