ISWAP behind Ondo Catholic church massacre – FG
The Federal Government has connected the Islamic State of West Africa Province members (ISWAP), to the attack on the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo on Sunday, June 5, 2018.
Rauf Aregbesola (Minister of Interior) made the disclosure while briefing reporters from the state house after a meeting today of the National Security Council, presided over at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He stated that the government was able to find the Owo attackers and zeroed in on the ISWAP terrorist group.
Alkali Baba Usman, Inspector-General of Police, briefed journalists. He stated that the minister had directed security agencies to pursue the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Minister said that the group was trying to pit Nigerians against each other and make it seem like an ethnoreligious war.
He said there was no ethnic agenda in the attack, urging Nigerians to unite and defeat the terrorists.
