Jeffrey Epstein: Prince Andrew and Clinton named in Epstein court files
Court documents related to disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell have named Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew.
A New York federal judge has ordered the release of files as part of a lawsuit, with the BBC currently reviewing the 943 pages released on Wednesday.
Some individuals listed are accused of wrongdoing, while others are making allegations or are potential witnesses. Judge Loretta Preska, when ordering the release, noted that many had already been identified by the media or in Maxwell’s trial, and some had not objected to the document’s release.
The released information includes references to Johanna Sjoberg, who claimed Prince Andrew groped her in Epstein’s apartment in 2001.
Buckingham Palace has denied her allegations. Former US President Clinton is also named, and his representatives referred to a 2019 statement where he claimed to “know nothing” about Epstein’s crimes.
According to the files, Ms. Sjoberg testified that Epstein once told her that Mr. Clinton “likes them young”, referring to girls. Mr Clinton had an affair with a 22-year-old White House intern while he was US president.
The files include testimony from Maxwell confirming that Mr. Clinton had traveled on board Epstein’s private jet, but she did not know how many times.
Mr. Clinton traveled on Epstein’s plane on humanitarian trips to Africa in the early 2000s and at the time praised Epstein as a committed philanthropist, though he said he later cut ties with him.
