Luke Fleurs: Six arrested over killing of South African Kaizer Chiefs footballer
Six individuals have been apprehended in connection with the homicide of South African footballer Luke Fleurs.
The 24-year-old player for Kaizer Chiefs was fatally shot during a carjacking incident at a gas station in Johannesburg last week.
According to a police statement, the six suspects were taken into custody in Soweto on Wednesday morning.
Law enforcement authorities suspect that the apprehended individuals are affiliated with a syndicate involved in car hijackings across the Gauteng province.
Investigations are ongoing to locate additional suspects.
Authorities announced the recovery of Fleurs’ vehicle, which had been stripped down, on Monday.
Fleurs was waiting for service at the gas station when he was approached by unidentified gunmen who demanded he exit the vehicle, as per reports from officials.
