Mother in UK court after children’s deaths in Colorado
A mother facing allegations of murdering two of her children in the United States has undergone extradition proceedings in the UK after being apprehended in central London.
Kimberlee Singler, 35, was arrested on Saturday, and her extradition hearing took place at Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday.
In Colorado, her nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son were discovered dead on December 19, alongside her 11-year-old daughter, who sustained injuries, as reported by US police. A warrant for Singler’s arrest was issued a week later.
She faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, three counts of child abuse, and one count of assault. The National Crime Agency (NCA) in the UK confirmed her appearance in court, where she was remanded in custody. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 29.
The NCA stated, “On Saturday 30 December 2023 in the Kensington area of London, officers from the National Crime Agency’s National Extradition Unit arrested a 35-year-old female wanted in the United States of America for offenses including two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.”
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department’s press release last week, they responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary in a Colorado residence at 00:29 local time on December 19.
Singler and her eldest daughter were found injured, received on-site treatment, and were then transported to the hospital.
The force later determined the initial report of a burglary to be “unfounded”.
In its latest release, it confirmed she was arrested “without incident” in the UK, and said more information would be shared in a press conference to be scheduled in the future.
