“Mr. Ibu suffered a cardiac arrest” – AGN president, Emeka Rollas reveals
Emeka Rollas, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, has disclosed the reason behind the untimely passing of Nollywood legend John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu.
Fans and colleagues of Mr Ibu were stunned and saddened by the tragic news of his death, which made headlines on Saturday, March 2.
The veteran actor reportedly succumbed to a long-standing medical condition that necessitated the amputation of his leg.
In a heartfelt announcement on his official Instagram page, Emeka Rollas conveyed the profound sorrow over Mr Ibu’s demise, revealing that he had suffered a cardiac arrest.
He shared that the news came from Don Single Nwuzor, Mr Ibu’s manager for 24 years, who informed him of the tragic event.
Rollas also revealed the additional sorrow within the Actors Guild of Nigeria as Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw lost her mother on the same day, making it a mournful day for the entertainment community.
His words: “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor. I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didnt make it. May his soul rest in peace.
