D’Tigress, on Sunday, Conquered Senegal 65-48 to Acquire the Girls African basket team Championship in Mali, For the third time following 12 years.
The Nigerian Basketball team had conquered host country Mali 48-47 points at the semi-final on Saturday from Bamako to secure FIBA World Cup tickets available to Africa.
They’d won both the 2003 and 2005 editions. With the success, the group has qualified for its 2018 Girls FIBA Championship in Spain.
Evelyn Akhator, Dallas Wing forward, at the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA) that was selected as one of the top five performers in the competition, scored 13 points and seven rebounds for D’Tigress.
Akhator also produced two assists and one steal even as she made no successful block through the last game.
However, Astou Traore, the top performer for Senegal, scored 17 points which was the highest score in the game, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and no block, all in vain to stop D’Tigress.
Meanwhile, the victorious team will arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos anytime soon,
The contingent would arrive Lagos aboard Air Cote d’Ivoire after departing Bamako, Mali on the 28th August at 14.00 hours local time.
The group will be without Coach Sam Vincent, Mfon Udoka, Evelyn Akhator along with Nyingifa Atonye who have all left from Bamako for their respective bases due to club and personal engagements.
Akhator made for Chicago to play with her team Dallas Wings in a WNBA game while Nyingifa can unite her team at San Juan, Puerto Rico.
