Nkechi Blessing laments over economic hardship after buying yam for N10K
Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has expressed her frustration over Nigeria’s economic situation after spending N10,000 on a single tuber of yam.
She revealed that she had spent her entire N150,000 budget on essential items at Ogba market.
On her Instagram page, Nkechi questioned the sustainability of the current economic conditions, asking if others had given up on the situation.
She listed the items she purchased, highlighting the high cost of living.
Despite acknowledging that she is not wealthy, Nkechi felt the need to voice her concerns, feeling the economic strain in the country.
She noted that people from all economic backgrounds are struggling and mentioned that it might be time for her to consider opportunities abroad.
She penned:
“So I carried N150k to the market to buy basic things – Turkey 2 kilos, catfish, life chicken, and goat meat. Guess what? N1000 didn’t return home with me. One yam na N10000 now. I noticed that people aren’t talking about the economy anymore; it’s like you guys enjoy it. I am not rich, so I will complain. Besides, even the rich are complaining. I am not the rich but one of the masses, and I am complaining like this.
It’s time to dust my passport because it is no longer getting funny.”
