“No be all youth dey do yahoo”- Portable tells EFCC
Nigerian musician Portable has issued a warning to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), urging the agency to refrain from targeting innocent youths based on their sources of wealth.
Renowned for his outspoken nature, Portable expressed his views during an interview on the Assorted Podcast, where he called on the EFCC to cease its efforts to intimidate and apprehend innocent youths and residents under the guise of combating cybercrime.
The musician emphasized the misconceptions surrounding the youth population, particularly regarding their involvement in fraudulent activities like internet fraud, commonly referred to as Yahoo Yahoo in Nigeria.
Portable underscored that not all young individuals involved in lucrative ventures are engaged in cybercrime, cautioning against the blanket assumption that every successful youth is involved in illicit activities.
The artist highlighted that many young people are earnestly hustling and striving to make a living through legitimate means.
Portable expressed his dissatisfaction with law enforcement agencies’ indiscriminate targeting of young Nigerians, urging the EFCC to use caution and discernment in its activities, rather than indiscriminately portraying every young person as a criminal.
