Piracy: Funke Akindele vows to arrest fans ahead of movie release
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has voiced her concerns about the escalating issue of piracy in the film industry, issuing a stern warning to her fans.
The box office star, whose latest movie Everybody Loves Jenifa is set to premiere in cinemas on December 13th, took to social media to rally Nigerians against piracy.
In a heartfelt message, Funke criticized the practice of recording videos in cinemas, describing it as a form of piracy and urging people to refrain from it, highlighting its harmful impact on the industry.
“SAY NO TO PIRACY!!! Recording short videos at the cinemas is piracy!!! Please stop it!!! Piracy is killing us!! I worked so hard on this project. Please, I’m pleading, do not be caught promoting piracy!!!” she wrote.
Funke shared how much effort and resources she has invested in the movie, emphasizing the devastating impact piracy has on filmmakers.
She ended her plea by emphasizing security measures put in place to counter piracy during the release of her movie; including the arrest of defaulters.
