Police gun down bandit in military uniform, recover AK49 assault rifle, revolver in Kaduna
One bandit was killed by Kaduna State police Command officers during a gun duel. They also recovered an AK49 assault rifle, a local-made long-range revolver, twelve cartridges, and one motorcycle.
DSP Mohammed Jalige (spokesperson for the command) stated that security personnel received a distress call reporting that bandits had been sighted on Galadimawa Kidandan Road in Giwa LGA, Kaduna State.
The statement stated that the tactical operation was initiated by a distress call at 0730hrs on 23 June 2022. Some armed bandits were seen along Galadimawa Kidandan Road in Giwa LGA, Kaduna State.
Their movement was strongly suspected to have been for their usual evil mission. To stop such a mission from happening, the CP ordered the deployment of a strong force nearby to the location to allow for a possible engagement.
“The Operatives engaged hoodlums with clinical accuracy and succeeded in countering their mission. They were forced to retreat into the forest with some sustaining gunshot injuries, while the other was shot down, his AK49 assault rifle recovered and his operational motorcycle captured. A locally manufactured long-range revolver was also found with 12 polymer-cased cartridges.
In the meantime, all efforts are made to restore public confidence by ensuring that the area is under constant surveillance and patrol in order not to be attacked again.
