Producers blasted over movie role assigned to child actor, Mercy Kenneth
Rising star Mercy Kenneth incites controversy with a scene in a movie where she shares an intimate moment with a male co-star. The scene portrays them attempting to depict the experience of a virgin engaging in sexual intercourse for the first time.
Following the simulated encounter, reports surfaced stating that the male actor offered Mercy Kenneth N100K and an iPhone as part of their agreement for the movie.
However, a considerable number of online users expressed their disapproval of the scene, urging Mercy Kenneth to refrain from such roles. Some also highlighted her tendency to undertake roles with sexual content despite being underage.
Chimamanda Favour stated: “Why we she play this role at this age.”
Ina Joe said: “I know when they married her mother around 2001/2,this girl is too small for this kind movie, nollywood what are you teaching to our youth.”
Victoria Lawrence penned: “Mercy is too young for this part I don’t know what you guys are teaching our teenagers out there.”
Jacky Opiyo reacted: “In the past years I used to watch Nigerian movies seated with my parents freely, nowadays I’m always watching but with the remote control pushing forward scenes that my children shouldn’t watch. It’s hard to even draw moral lessons from a number of movies nowadays. Mercy is young for such scenes. I come in peace though.”
Emmanuel Ezibon wrote: “This days almost all western african movies is about shifting wombs and rampant sex. Are we going to raise a generation of sex for sex only while Asians and Europeans are invading African continent?”
