Recovering Slovak PM moved to the capital after shooting
Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico has been relocated from a hospital in the central part of the country, where he was receiving treatment following a serious shooting incident two weeks ago.
Reports indicate that he was transferred from Banska Bystrica to Bratislava, the capital, to continue his recuperation.
The 59-year-old leader was critically injured after being shot four times at proximity in Handlova on May 15 while engaging with supporters after a government gathering.
Mr. Fico has reportedly undergone multiple surgical procedures.
It remains unclear whether he has been discharged to his residence in Bratislava or moved to another medical facility.
A seasoned politician, Fico has held the position of prime minister for over a decade out of the last 18 years. He returned to office last September, leading a coalition with populist-nationalist leanings.
Slovakia has witnessed escalating divisions in recent months, with the attack exacerbating existing tensions.
The alleged perpetrator, identified by local media as 71-year-old Juraj Cintula, is in custody and faces charges of attempted murder.
