Singer Portable gives reason why he slapped preacher
Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, recently took to social media to explain why he slapped a preacher who was delivering a sermon in front of his bar a few weeks ago.
As previously reported, the incident, which took place publicly, was captured on Instagram Live. In the footage, Portable can be seen confronting and assaulting the pastor, warning him not to disturb his business at the bar.
The altercation sparked criticism from both fans and religious leaders. Responding to the backlash, Portable shared on his Instagram on September 16, 2024, that a man, pretending to be a pastor, had attacked his sister just weeks before the incident.
Portable explained, “They want to set me up. He was not a man of God, and if he was a man of God, may God forgive me for slapping him. If I knew he was a real man of God, I won’t have slapped him. The way he acted was why I slapped him, I’m a human being and I’m not perfect,” he then apologised for his actions.
