Singer, Shakira hits out at her ex Gerard Pique’s new girlfriend Clara Chia
In a new interview, Shakira, a Colombian singer, has attacked ex-Gerard Pique’s girlfriend Clara Chia. She revealed how she had strengthened from their split.
Gerard, a former Barcelona player, split with Shakira in June 2022, after 11 years of marriage, and made it official on Instagram last month with Clara, 23.
Shakira allegedly realized her ex had been unfaithful when she discovered a jar of strawberry jam had been eaten while she was away.
The 47-year-old hitmaker has admitted that she believed that women needed men to be complete, but she now realizes that she can be self-sufficient.
Addressing their split, she told journalist Enrique Acevedo on the Mexican channel Canal Estrellas: ‘There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.’
Shakira said that she has more confidence in herself now and is a lioness for her children, Sasha (7 years old) and Milan (10 years old).
She detailed: ‘I bought that story, that a woman needed a man to complete herself. I also had that dream of a family where the children had a mum and dad under the same roof.
‘You don’t achieve all your dreams in life but life has a way of compensating you and I think life has certainly done it with me with the marvelous two children I have who fill me with love every day.
‘I’ve always been emotionally quite dependant on men, I’ve fallen in love with love, and I think I’ve been able to understand that story from another perspective and today I am sufficient on my own.’
‘When a woman has to face life’s battles she comes out stronger,’ the singer added.
‘Now paradoxically I feel complete because I depend on myself and I have two children who depend on me and that means I have to be stronger than a lioness.
‘That strength comes out of experiencing a painful loss, of accepting it, of tolerating frustration, of understanding that life doesn’t always bring us what we want.
‘There are dreams that are broken and you have to pick up the little pieces from the ground and put yourself together again, and also be an example to my children.’
Shakira concluded: ‘Now I’ve got more confidence in myself. I didn’t know I could end up being strong. I always thought I was more fragile. It’s true that I’ve got a bit of everything but you have to have faith.’
Veteran family lawyer Ramon Tamborero, who represented the ex-footballer in his negotiations with the Colombian artist, insisted: ‘They have made a great effort for the good of their children, making sure they weren’t the protagonists. Both of them have shown great intelligence.’
Last month, Gerard and Clara made their relationship Instagram official, with the sportsman cosying up to his new love, 23, in a happy selfie – which quickly racked up one million likes.
Earlier this month, Gerard spoke about his relationship with Clara for the first time, admitting that she’s the one who wears the trousers in their relationship.
In an on-air chat with Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos, Gerard confessed that Clara chooses his clothes for him when they go shopping together, comparing himself to a ‘puppet.’
