“The devil’s headquarters is now in most churches” – Kenneth Okonkwo says
Nigerian actor Kenneth Okonkwo has stirred up controversy with his comments regarding religious leaders and the state of churches in contemporary society.
When questioned directly during an interview with the Punch about whether he considers himself a man of God, Okonkwo replied, “I am not a man of God; I am a child of God.”
Expanding on this viewpoint, Okonkwo expressed feeling inadequately equipped to shoulder the immense responsibilities associated with being perceived as a man of God.
He voiced his concern about the misuse of religion for personal gain, highlighting how many individuals claiming to be men of God exploit the faith and trust of their followers to amass wealth and privileges for themselves.
In addition, Okonkwo expressed grave reservations over the moral rectitude of contemporary churches.
He implied that certain churches have turned into havens for evil and immoral activity when he went so far as to call them “the devil’s headquarters.”
