Two people wounded in Vancouver stabbing
Police in Vancouver, Canada, reported that two individuals were stabbed and a suspect was fatally shot by officers.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when officers responded to a call about a man armed with a knife who had stolen alcohol from a restaurant.
The two victims were hospitalized, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The identity of the deceased suspect has not been revealed.
According to a statement from the Vancouver Police, the caller informed them that a man had stolen alcohol and was carrying a knife inside a restaurant near the city’s central library.
Upon arrival, officers located the armed suspect in a nearby convenience store. The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, was shot and later taken into custody.
Police officers and first responders attempted to administer aid to the suspect, who later died in the hospital.
The incident is under investigation.
Video seen by the Canadian Press reportedly shows police firing over the counter of a convenience store and yelling “move over” as they aim their weapons.
Another video appears to show first responders performing chest compressions on the suspect.
