”What are we celebrating” – Do2dtun ponders on the celebration of Nigeria’s Independence Day
October 1st has arrived, and Nigerians are marking their Independence Day, commemorating the nation’s freedom gained in 1960. On-air personality Do2dtun took to Instagram to express his thoughts on the national holiday, writing:
“What exactly are we celebrating? The fumes or the smoke? The needles or the thorns? The depression or the exhaustion?
The question echoes loudly, needing no response because the answer is already visible—in our weary hearts and hands. Though they bleed, we continue to use them to dig into soil that may yield either the oil of death or gold.”
It is time for a reality check. Things are very very hard and it has become a ripple effect where the next person have a prepared speech of blaming the person before him or her.
WHEN WILL THE BLAME GAMES END ??? WHO WILL JUST FIX IT AND NEVER WORRY ABOUT WHO DIDINT. WHEN WILL OUR TEARS BE WORTH MORE THAN THE PAIN ?
On a day like this; we can all go about our business, fly our flags and forget the focus by covering it with our clothes, jokes; non-Challant approach but you cant erase the pain of the hardship to our lives. We need to also learn to speak about our struggles and also do our part as citizens.
The problems might be enormous, but I believe it can’t fixed if our leaders put the people first over their emotions. May Nigeria be chosen for a miracle one day. We need it even more now.”
