Why I stopped shooting music videos for Asake – TG Omori opens up
TG Omori has surprised Nigerians by revealing the reasons behind his sudden decision to cease directing music videos for Asake.
The renowned Nigerian music director recently appeared on the Zero Condition podcast, where he discussed his rationale for discontinuing his collaboration with the singer.
TG Omori initially teamed up with Asake on the hit track “Organize” in 2022, but speculations arose when Asake chose to work with another director for his most recent music videos.
In the interview, TG Omori made it clear that he respected Asake’s choice to collaborate with different directors.
He also underscored Olamide’s philosophy, the musician and CEO of YBNL record label, which emphasizes providing opportunities to a diverse range of talents.
TG Omori expressed his admiration for Olamide’s inclusive approach and stressed that it would be unfair to hold it against him.
Furthermore, TG Omori acknowledged the success of the new director Asake selected to work with, commending Olamide’s dedication to fostering creativity within the industry.
He highlighted the professionalism and enduring relationship he has with Olamide and the YBNL record label.
He mentioned their history and the trust Olamide placed in him by giving him opportunities to showcase his talent. TG praised Olamide’s support for other directors, acknowledging that he had worked with different individuals before collaborating with TG.
He concluded by expressing his unwavering loyalty to Olamide and YBNL, emphasizing that he did not take Asake’s decision personally and understood the business aspect of their relationship.
In his words; “Even husband and wife dey divorce, people do have a break. I think we have done enough, we have done like 12 videos. We are still very cool. You know it is a business and at the end of the day, you have to respect your client’s decisions.
“I like when artistes have the freedom to try out new things. I don’t want because we are guys you must shoot with me. I don’t know why that happened.
“To me it is crazy love because me and YBNL are forever. And you know how me and Olamide ‘go like way back’, and Olamide is a type that makes sure that everybody eats. And before I came, he was working with other directors and he gave me the opportunity to also do my thing.
“So he’s working with a very creative guy now. A very good guy that’s doing well too. That’s Olamide for you. And if I take that personal, then I have messed up.”
