Why the arrest of Bobrisky by the EFCC is not right – Alibaba
Esteemed Nigerian comedian, Alibaba, has voiced his perspective on the apprehension of socialite, Bobrisky, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), outlining reasons for his disapproval.
You may recall that Bobrisky was taken into custody at his residence in Pinnock Estates, Lagos on Wednesday, April 3rd, with the EFCC subsequently filing a six-count charge against him.
Scheduled for arraignment on Friday for alleged offenses including money laundering and defacement of the Naira, Bobrisky’s case has sparked discussions.
In a now-deleted post on his Instagram story, the veteran comedian expressed his opposition to Bobrisky’s arrest.
He shared a video depicting individuals tampering with the Naira and questioned why Bobrisky faced arrest for similar actions, citing a previous instance where the EFCC had prosecuted another female celebrity for the same offense.
Alibaba lamented the disparate treatment of women in Nigeria’s legal system.
His words: “And Bobrisky was arrested for what again? Because they are men? This is not right. The other time on celebrity lady was sentenced for this same thing. Now, EFCC has arrested another lady for the same thing that men get away with. The way we treat women in this country is not good. Mennnnnn… I just tayaaa.”
