Wizkid’s father addresses attacks on son from Davido’s fans
Chief Munir Balogun, father of Afrobeats star Wizkid, has stepped forward to address the growing rivalry between his son and fellow artist Davido.
In a candid interview with Punch Newspapers, Chief Balogun shared his perspective on the rising tension between these two major figures in Nigeria’s music industry.
He stressed the importance of staying focused, encouraging fans to appreciate the positive contributions both artists have made to the music scene.
Chief Balogun also spoke about his discussions with Wizkid, advising him to rise above the negativity and provocations from Davido’s enthusiastic supporters, noting that much of the criticism is driven by a desire to stir up conflict rather than genuine concerns.
“I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the boys who are supporters of Davido are saying. The supporters are only looking for what they will say to collect money and all of that. They are just looking for what they are going to eat and I told him not to pay much attention to them. I’ve told my son to take things easy with them and overlook whatever they say because I don’t blame them,” he stated.
