Woman attacked by wolves in safari park near Paris
A woman is currently in intensive care following an incident where she was attacked by wolves while jogging in an animal park near Paris, according to reports from French media.
On Sunday morning, the 36-year-old victim, who was staying at a lodge within Thoiry park, unintentionally entered the main safari zone designated for vehicles. In this area, she was attacked by three arctic wolves, resulting in severe bites to her neck, back, and leg.
Thoiry, located approximately 40km (25 miles) west of Paris, is renowned as one of France’s top wildlife parks. It houses around 800 animals that freely roam while visitors observe them from the safety of their vehicles.
Accommodations near the wolf and bear enclosures are protected by electric fences and ditches, as reported by France Info.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear. Authorities have not yet commented on whether the woman mistakenly entered the car-only safari zone or if there were issues with signage.
According to an unnamed police source cited by Le Parisien newspaper, park attendants responded to the woman’s cries for help during the attack, leading to her rescue. She was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
An investigation is underway.
