“You allowed them to step on tradition because of money” – Deeone calls out Chioma’s family
Popular Nigerian comedian Deeone has criticized Chioma Rowland’s family for agreeing to hold her traditional wedding with music star Davido in Lagos instead of their hometown in Imo State.
Deeone took to Instagram to publicly accuse Chioma’s family of disregarding their tradition for the sake of money.
In a video shared online, the comedian argued that Igbo tradition appears to have two standards: one for the wealthy and another for the poor.
He pointed out that traditional Igbo marriage customs require a bride to have her traditional wedding in her hometown. However, in Chioma’s case, her family seemed to have ‘bypassed’ this tradition due to Davido’s affluent status.
Deeone further asserted that if Davido were from a less privileged background, Chioma’s family would have insisted on adhering strictly to the hometown-based wedding tradition.
“…Because Davido has Money, Chioma’s Family allowed him to Step on Tradition, if he was a poor person they will demand that he comes to the east to Chioma’s Hometown for the Traditional Wedding, But because of Money now all the respected Igbo leaders travelled to meet Davido in Lagos…” Deeone said in part.
