“You wey dey sing Yoruba music proverb for us” – Burna Boy claps back at Brymo
Afrobeat sensation Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has taken a swipe at his fellow artist Brymo after the latter threw shade at him in a recent interview.
During a conversation on Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by content creator Isbaeu, Brymo addressed the rift between him and Burna Boy. Alleging that Burna Boy appropriated his unreleased song, which served as inspiration for Brymo’s tracks “City Boy” and “I Told You,” Brymo accused Burna Boy of theft.
In response, Burna Boy, in a live freestyle, indirectly jabbed at Brymo, urging aspiring artists to work diligently to avoid fading into obscurity, seemingly referencing Brymo’s career trajectory.
In contrast to Burna Boy’s approach, Brymo emphasized in the interview that he would never mention Burna Boy’s name in his music.
In a recent update, Burna Boy, positioning himself as a king, remarked that people are willing to resort to anything to criticize him. Specifically targeting Brymo, Burna Boy remarked that the singer only delves into Yoruba music proverbs in his songs.
His words: “At this point they do and say Anything to get at the KING. werey dey sing Yoruba proverb music for us When K1 and Saheed Osupa dem still dey carry us trabaye.”
